community engagement and collaborative facilitation

Co-creating solutions with the communities you serve, enhances your delivery of all programs, services, and resources. I have a deep understanding of engagement strategies and a proven track record of implementing approaches that move communities along a continuum of engagement. I can also help facilitate—across sectors, organizations, stakeholders, and teams—conversations that define shared purpose, desired outcomes, how to measure and evaluate success, and the responsibilities of parties involved.

San Antonio Community Visioning

San Antonio’s second yearslong community visioning process engaged more than 12,000 San Antonians during 2020. In 2021, with a nomination by the Mayor of San Antonio, it received the 2021 national Civvys Award, the only national award dedicated to civic engagement, impact, and scalability from which other cities can learn. We even made a toolkit about engaging communities.

The Board Game

I co-developed The Board Game, a leadership development training and matching program for nonprofit board service, based on identified needs of nonprofit organizations in San Antonio. With a focus on advancing racial equity, The Board Game trained the leadership of nonprofit organizations on best practices in board development and recruited San Antonians to learn how to successfully apply and serve on a nonprofit board. San Antonians were matched to current board openings based on the expertise identified by participating Nonprofit Partners. Using best practices in adult learning, 325 community members were matched to more than 90 nonprofit organizations over three years.
